[AK] Trump’s Foreign Policy

This note will briefly discuss Trump’s stance on various international issues.

On Asia: Push Asian allies (Japan, etc.) to increase spending in defense and withdraw troops from Middle East to lessen US’s burden of containing China’s expansionism.

On Iran: Won’t let US Navy be humiliated by Iran (would even go to the extent of sinking a boat or two if necessary), be stricter on the Nuclear deal. Main aim is to improve relations with Israel and Saudi Arabia.

On Europe: push EU allies to increase defense spending, and normalize relations with Russia, so US doesn’t have to invest in NATO that much.

On free trade: withdraw from TPP but NOT NAFTA, WTO, etc. Impose several protectionist policies against countries like China and lower corporate taxes to discourage US companies to go offshore.
